What is one thing specific to your grade level or subject matter that you wish other educators would understand?
Independent reading is not “free time” for the teacher. That is my time to work with students individually. That means that I need to be on top of each student’s independent work. It’s exhausting.
Independent reading is the biggest test of letting go of the control freak teacher and becoming the biggest cheerleader for student success.
